"It's kinda - magical..." he breathed it quietly, unable for once to add anything else. Anything about how the water made it look like the sky had gone skinny-dipping or how the stars were pinholes in a blanket over the earth. He just looked and moved closer to Dean.

"I like you." And it was true. Here he found he had to be true because everything was so very very true all around him.

Swallowing, apprehensive but wrapped his arms around his neck, breathing uneven. "Like you too...A lot..." Leaning forward, wanting to kiss him but feeling afraid for no reason. Lowering his gaze, gently brushing their lips together as if fearful of moving too fast and shattering the entire scene.
"Kind of just wandering around in search of like, my life or whatever."

It was slow and gentle and the whole moment felt like the world around them was moving and a very very very slow time - watching them and holding its breath. Julien tasted Dean's lips again and then he had his hand nestled in Dean's hair and his lips were parting just a little and he was breathing in the same air as Dean was breathing.

His skin tingled all over, like he'd been rubbed raw but in the most delicious way.

"Oh - your hands might get some if it on them...The hair dye I mean." He pulled them out of his hair gently and tittered, "See?" Trying to rub them clean with his own, but he really wanted to keep kissing instead, so he did, holding their hands against his chest. Wondering if he was a good kisser. If Julien could tell because he assumed he kissed Ben a lot and maybe other people maybe.

He laughed and allowed Dean to try to clean off his hands, not really caring one way or another. If his skin was tattoooed with ink every time he touched Dean's hand or pulled him close - then that was a meagre price to pay. Or that was what it seemed rigt then under the fierce brightness of the stars - looking out across the expanse of lake like looking at the sky smiling at the sky.

"We could wash our hands in it," he said quietly.

He walked him to the water's edge, and sank onto his knees next to it and submerged his hands. Like siezing the sky only to have it slip through your fingers again and again.

After a moment or two he went onto his hands and knees and dunked his head in completely. It would have started to bleed black if there was much light to discern it by.

The water was deliciously cold, which was perfect because with the stars in the sky and Dean near him he felt like everything else, all his nerves and his blood and his hair and even his eyes were flaming and on fire and birlliant and bright.

He washed his hands and then dunked his head to try to get the coolness into his brain but it only made him feel more alive.

He'd pulled his head back up when Julien submerged his down, and he laughed and pushed the wet hair back and wiped his face with his sleeve where the dye was dripping down.

"You're crazy..." Though he probably didn't hear him. Dean sat back and crossed his legs and watched him.

He shook his hair, dog-like, and laughed. "It's so cold. So bloody cold." But he wasn't complaining. The coldness was as enthralling as the dark, two sharp stark contrasts with the way he usually thought.

Julien turned to look at Dean, smiling freely - feeling for once as though nothing he was doing was being judged or watched or counted. Like he was enough just being him.

Reaching out to touch his wet cheek. "Why'd you do that? I did it to get the dye out..." Laughing lightly, but it yielded a cough and he ducked his head quickly.

"Ugh, water up my nose." Scrunching up his face, pitching to the side a bit, which could either be a fever setting in somehow or full moon energy or just that Julien liked him oh god.

"I did it because it's dark," Julien said, grinning and watching Dean tip his head as though he were a teapot draining the water out through his ear. "I did it because the water looks kind of like everything in the night sky went for a bathe in it naked. And because you're here and you're all wet and I wanted to be wet too because it's cold and it's dark and that's kind of most of the fun."

It was a long speech and he was rambling, so he kicked out his legs and started taking off his shoes while he talked.

Eyes widening, "What, are you gonna jump in or something?" He didn't want him to. Mostly because he felt like he needed to touch him, so he gently enclosed his fingers around his ankle.

The feeling of fingers on his ankle made him pause. It was odd - like being held back from the edge of a cliff while sitting down, and he ran a hand over the hand holding onto him.

"I'm just going to dabble my feet in the water," he said in reply, pushing his wet hair out of his face. "Even I find this a bit cold for swimming."

Suddenly he felt silly and strange and invasive, so he drew his hand back and stood up. "Oh, yeah, okay." Making a fuss over fixing his hair as he bent over his reflection. To try and confirm that he was really here.

Julien finished with his shoes and stuck his feet into the water, still sitting on the bank. "Sometimes I wish i had a boat so I could sail to the other side in it, just to see what it was like."

He dug his fingers into the sandy loam, and observed Dean out of the corner of his eye.

Folding his arms and looking out across the tiny rolled waves trilling out to the opposite bank. "Doesn't look all that far." The wind burst and hit his back, a warm wind. A reassuring pat.

"You'd look good in a sailor's suit." Feeling, still, a bit despondent and discoloured and he didn't know why. He wanted to roll around in the sand with him forever, but wanted it so badly that he couldn't fathom it for fear of mucking the whole thing up.

His euphoria was dimming a little and he could sense a strangeness in the air between them, like the heavy weight of anticipation between making a wish and blowing out the candles. It seemed always a pity to see the lights go out and as you got older you began to wonder if it was worth it for a wish that wouldn't come true.

"I look especially dashing," he said smoothly, winking. "But more as a pirate than a sailor." Come over here - don't sit so far away from me.

He cast a sidelong glance in time for his wink and blushed. Julian had the ability to be cocky without the repercussions of looking like an asshole. How do you do that?

"I dunno, those little sailor hats are a pretty big turn on." He sat back down again, at least. Measuring his breath. Leaning back a bit and smiling with hesitance.

Julien inched a little to one side so he could once again cover Dean's hand with his own, and then looked out across the lake, serene and beautiful and all their own.

"We're the only people here," he said quietly. "You could almost believe the rest of the world was gone and it was just us, only us."

Forever. That's what it feels like tonight.

He lost his breath again. "Y-yeah..." About ready to explode again on contact. But jerking his head to look at him and stared at a point just below Julien's eyes. "I'm...I'm a bit...I'm scared a bit, Julien." Wanting to elaborate but finding he couldn't speak anymore.
